I remember seeing Peter Distefano play for the first time in 1993. He was the guitar player for Perry Farrell's new band "Porno for Pyros." I was lucky to get to see them at the Warfield in San Francisco. It was extremely memorable. Janes Addiction had been my favorite band and I regrettably missed their lollapalooza tour in 91 only to find out they had disbanded. So of course when Perry got Porno together I had to run down to see them. i believe it was May of 93, the tail end of my junior year in high school. Peter and the rest of the band were so entertaining I particularly remember his solos during the song Orgasm. There were dancing clowns and all kinds of crazy flamboyant theatrics. i watched from the balcony completely enraptured of course!
So, skip 16 years later to 2009 and I recorded my song "disengage" with Peter. He is so fun awesome to work with, literally a creative ball of energy. Yesterday I finally recorded with him again. We hope to do a whole album together- stay tuned!
